David A. Katz is a leading real estate investment attorney, providing the firm with deep experience and resources for its complex real estate investment dispute and fundraising securities practice.
Dave represents clients in all phases of the real estate development process and in all aspects of real estate related projects, including contract negotiations, financing, leasing, land use, and entity structuring and organization. Dave's real estate clients include land developers, retailers and builders and developers of retail, industrial, office and mixed use projects.
Dave received the majority of his professional experience as a partner in an Annapolis-based boutique law firm, Mulrenin & Associates, LLC, focusing on commercial real estate transactions, and he began his career with Hyatt & Weber, P.A., where he was associate general counsel to Severn Savings Bank, FSB, a publicly traded financial institution.
Dave earned a Masters in Real Estate Development from Georgetown University, a Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, and a Bachelors of Science in Biology from the College of Charleston.
- Assisted a national grocery chain in the acquisition, development and stabilization of a +/-$50MM in-fill, grocery anchored community shopping center redevelopment, including the lease-up of all pad-site, in-line and sub-anchor space on behalf of landlord.
- Negotiated the +/-$24MM CMBS, non-recourse refinancing of a mixed use hotel, retail and banquet hall development.
- Negotiated the +/-$20MM non-recourse refinancing of +/-15,000 acres of agricultural land, across five (5) states, on behalf of a family office private equity fund.
- Negotiated a 1,000,000 SF Data Center estimated to be valued at $430MM upon stabilization. Includes negotiation of Ground Lease, JV Development Agreement and Power Purchase Agreement with Utility Company. Center is estimated to pull 500 Megawatts of power and house a AAA rated end user.
